Witty, humorous and utterly intriguing, Deepak Kaul's latest 'Forty Nine Shades Confused' presents a curious Indian man's exploration of the BDSM practices. The protagonist (who is the alter ego of the author) has a fascination for the novel '50 Shades of Grey' and loves to wear grey ties. Much like the novel he too wants to explore the world of BDSM in an unique and interesting way. But the problem arises when he begin his search for a female partner. From asking his friend to be his partner to creating fake online accounts he tries everything to get his dream female partner. When everything fails he decides to place classified ads on newspaper and to his surprise after much attempts someone finally responds.
To know what happens next you have to go through this exciting work.
I liked the subject matter of the work. In india where topics related to sex are still considered as taboo, this book will definitely be able to break the silence around people's sexual preferences. Through his brilliant writing style and narration the author has given us a chance to look into the psyche of the protagonist which is absolutely amazing. Its a quick but interesting read. I liked the cover page as well. It perfectly presents the theme of the work.
Overall, it was a fascinating experience. I give this work 4 stars for the topic, writing style and the overall presentation.
