Review-
Author Satish is a master storyteller. He has that God-gifted talent of holding his readers glued to the story from the very first chapter to the last one. He has beautifully painted the 90's life with excellent details and utmost care.I particularly like the way the author has explained every nuts and bolts of cricket in a simple and easy manner.
The stories has been developed chronologically.
Each of the major characters are developed with details. The matches are described in such a vivid manner that I could actually visualize the whole match like a movie. The author has done justice with the theme of the novel. The author has taken a practical approach to this game by suggesting that everyone who wants to be a great cricketer should always keep a backup plan to support them in their hard times.
The writing style is engaging with a slight touch of humour and romance, makes it utterly enjoyable to read and relate to. His mastery over his craft is shown particularly in the narration of the final match where he has described the whole match in a detailed manner.
Favorite Lines-
"I learnt that one was supposed to take the good with the bad, learn what one can from those experiences and start working hard towards the next set of goals"
"Life is a test match played on a sporting wicket. There is something in it for all types of players provided you are ready to work hard.Life would give you the chance to showcase your skills as the match progresses. You have to be ready to play when you are called to do so."
Recommendation-
I have really enjoyed reading this book and encourage everyone who shares the same love and passion for cricket to give it a try.
