"Korma Kheer and Kismat: Five Seasons in Old Delhi" is an account of Scottish Journalist Pamela Timms' food adventure on the spicy streets and allies of Old Delhi. It is a beautifully woven compilation of her past experiences at the Old Delhi market where she explored the varied, unique flavours of Delhi street food.

I purchased it three months ago at the Bilaspur Railway Station. I was wandering at a bookstore there and the first thing that arrested my attention was it's extremely beautiful cover page. This book is simply amazing. Each chapter contains interesting backstories of the author's introduction with the particular dish followed by the recipe and the process of making them in detail which as a foodie I liked the most.

I felt this book was particularly strong in the area of narration. The author has maintained a perfect balance between her narration of the places and its people with the description of the food she enjoyed there, which makes the book neither a cookbook nor a travelogue but a mixture of both.

Her eloquent, conversational writing style coupled with the easy, lucid language makes the reading experience utterly pleasing. The book also contains beautiful pictures with detailed description of the spice markets and the food stalls in Old Delhi where you can visit anytime to challenge your tastebuds.Whether its her experience at the Ramlila Ground during the "Jan Lokpal Movement" or the description of the various festivals, she has described everything in a picturesque and vivid manner.

Do I recommend this book? A big Yes.

The book is available on all major online stores. Last I checked on Amazon there was 61% off on the hardcover. So if you are a foodie like me or you share a passion for preparing Indian foods for your loved ones, give this post a like and grab your book right now.

Happy Reading
