"There is the light of lights which is the inner being. The peerless spirit within living beings...the immortal light" - Yajur Veda
The literal meaning of the term Vedanta is “the end of the Vedas, the concluding parts of the Vedas, the culmination of the Vedic teaching and wisdom”. Thus the term is originally referred
to the Upanishads, the last literary products of the Vedic period. The views of the Upanishads
also constitute the final aim of the Veda, or the essence of the Vedas. However, Vedanta has subsequently come to include the various elaborations and interpretations of the Upanishads. They are the concluding parts of the Vedas and are the culmination of the Vedic knowledge and wisdom. The Upanishads are not philosophical treatises, though their style is direct, forceful, often didactic and dialogic. The Upanishads are not philosophical systems but are only narratives of experiences of sages and their insights into reality.
In his latest work 'Vedanta' author Pranay has analysed the teachings of Vedanta to understand and learn the leadership qualities and mantras for sucess. Divided in 21 chapters, the book systematically discusses about the major lessons of Vedanta sutras. The book discusses in detail about Guru Adi Shankaracharya's view of recognition of the divine within oneself and how a leader can achieve success in life through self realization. Besides, this excellent work teaches us about inner peace and how anyone can develop it with patience and practice. The importance of an unclouded (Niskalakh) mind has been analysed in detail and the book shows how one can make their mind clear through self-inquiry, development of loyalty and get rid of emotional and mental anxiety. In the later chapters the book shares valuable insights on the qualities of a visionary leader and how a leader can maintain balance and being watchful while dealing with difficult situations. I absolutely loved the way author Pranay has explained the difficult teachings of vendanta in the most beautiful and simple way possible.
Overall, it was a great experience going through this exceptional work. I give it 4.3 stars for the content and presentation and highly recommend it to all.
Happy Reading
