Book Review: Coach's Hue by David W. Piazza

Title: Coach's Hue
Author: David W. Piazza
Format: Ebook
Length: 181 pages
Rating: 4/5 stars

Author David Piazza's 'Coach's Hue' gives mother nature a voice of her own and forces us to think and reevaluate the decision we have taken so far in the name of the development to destroy our the natural world. Though today we consider ourselves as superior and more advanced in areas of science and technology, but are we really advanced? Or it is just a bubble we have wrapped ourselves into to escape from the harsh reality? The physical and mental characteristics that we received from our mother nature as a gift through the process of human evolution, has made us so proud of our abilities that now we are using those same gifts to make the world a worse place to live, not only for our future generations but also for the other living creatures.

Coach's Hue presents these salient questions to the readers through the exciting and adventurous journey of Coach, a special child from the lap of mother nature who possess some unique abilities that he uses to bring true happiness and pure bliss in the hearts of the dejected and heartbroken people. The story begins with the Morales couple who, while in a picnic at the place called Coach's Valley, witnessed a strange natural phenomenon. The mother earth chooses pregnant Denise Morales for its manifestation and thats how Coach comes to the human world.

But in a world where people only understands profit and led by anger, hatred and personal agendas, will Coach be able to survive and spread his message of love ?

What will happen if the Govt. decides to capture Coach to extract all his abilities like a cruel butcher in the name of experiment?

To get all the answers you have to go through this exciting tale of selfless love, courage and realization.

The first thing that I loved the most about this work is the choice of subject. The way author David Piazza has taken the burning issue of environmental protection and presented it through an amazing story with the mastery of his writing skills and narration is truly commendable. The plot and character construction are done in equally fantastic manner. Especially the characters of Coach, Roger Brottle who initially found him in the woods, Greg and Paula,  are created with absolute care and precision. The strong relationship between Coach and Roger like a father-son duo as well as his relationship with Greg and Paula is something worth exploring. I can't reveal the plot much but towards the end of the novel, there comes a part where Coach's smile will tear your heart.

The innocent smile of Coach remindeded me of "Bolai", the character from the bengali short story 'Bolai' written by Noble Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The english translation of the story is available on the internet and I would recommend everyone to go through the story.

Overall, it was truly an amazing read. I highly recommend this novel to everyone and give it 4.5 stars for the choice of subject, writing style, narration,  plot and character construction.

Happy Reading
