Book Review: 2050 by Deepak Kaul

Title: 2050
Author: Deepak Kaul
Format: Kindle
Genre: Fiction
Year: 2020
Rating: 4/5 stars

Author Deepak Kaul's latest work '2050' gives the readers a hope for a better future and a thumbnail view of an utopian world. The work begins with the protagonist's memory of the devastation caused by hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005 where almost 120000 residents lost their homes, friends and family members. The book shows how the protagonist's family suffered due to the lack of basic facilities such as food, clean water, bedding and sanitation facilities. Besides, they also witnessed non-storm related fatalities such as rapes, suicides and stabbings. The book shows us how people from the disadvantaged categories suffer the most during such natural calamities.

The book then gradually unfolds mankind's progress towards a more utopian setting in the Post-Trump era. Infact, the situation gradually changes to such an extent that now the police officers don't carry guns anymore, there are trained communities to deal with the cases of domestic violence and drug abuse. The police officers are now interact with the communities to understand them in a better way to solve their issues.

Now as far as the writing style is concerned it is engaging. The author has covered almost all the important areas such as ecomonic growth, agricultural development, political scenarios,  environmental issues, education and migrant crisis and so on in his description which is not an easy task at all.

One thing that I loved the most about this work is the author's endeavour to inculcate hope in his readers towards the upcoming future through this beautiful piece of literary creation. In the post-covid era mental illness has become a serious issue. Many people have lost their jobs, friends and family members and they are in need of support. In these critical hours it is our responsibility help each other and try to bring peace and happiness in each others life and the author has tried to do so through his work.

Overall, it was an interesting read and I would recourage you to gift this ebook to your friends and family members.

Happy Reading
