“Work hard,

Work smart,

Work hard and work smart,
and you will earn extraordinary rewards.”

Probably these lines by famous Canadian philosopher and  author Matshona Dhliwayo exactly portrays the theme of Monica Iyengar's latest work. In today's competitive world it is not enough to work hard, but one requires to work hard-ly to give the most of them in the shortest amount of time. In today's world workplace is nothing but a battleground where you need to be constantly alert, active and diligent to leave a mark. Work-Hard-ly by Monica Iyengar minutely dissects each and every important aspects of the office culture to provide us a blueprint for the battle we fight in our workplaces. Monica like a modern day Sherlock Holmes provide us an inside view of the minds of the employers, colleagues and the customers and teaches us how to decode their minds for our own benefit.

Divided in 13 chapters the book focuses on all the major aspects one needs to take care of in their workplace like time Management skills, team Dynamics, leadership Qualities, use of emotional intelligence, art of presentation, deal with the office Politics and more. I particularly like the way the author like Chanakya, provided useful insights with the help of beautiful anecdotes. The simple and lucid writing style as well as the conversation tone helps us connect to the text easily.

The book is different from any other self-helf book in the market because it not only gives us practical advice on how to minimize our pressure but also guides us through the whole process. With the careful use of these strategies one can observe instant miracles in the workplace.

The author is a keen observer which is pretty much evident from the way she has systematically choose each topic and explained it in an organized way. Before reading this book I had no idea that small insignificant things such as our mobile phone or laptop or the lighter we use can speak so much about our personality and they can be used to boost up our personality to a great extent.

This is one of those books which you can finish in one sitting and can use the gained knowledge in your workplace. I have truely enjoyed and learned so many things from this book.

I give this book 4.5 stars for the amount of practical knowledge it contains and the way the author has explained everything in a simple manner. I recommend this book to EVERYONE! Yes! Everyone! Whether you are a employee or an employer, a student or a entrepreneur, this book will gift you amazing insights to grow in your work as well as in your life.

Happy Reading
