Title: Demystifying Myths and Lore in Sri Guru Granth Sahib
Author: Maneshwar S. Chahal
Publisher: Fingerprint Publishing
Rating: 5/5 stars

Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj needs no introduction. Throughout the ages, SGGS ji has inspired billions of people to walk on the path of righteousness and spread the divine message of peace, brotherhood and service. But many of the devotees find it difficult to read and comprehend the divine messages of SGGS ji as it contains 1430 pages and has 5890 stanzas in different formats such as shabad, ashttpadi, chhant, vār, slock, pauri, paday etc. The divine stanzas has been contributed by thirty-two authors including Six Sikh Gurus, fifteen renowned saints from Bhakti Movement such as Kabir ji, Ravidas ji, Namdev ji etc. and eleven bards.

The bards and saints used to teach the message of love and total surrender to one God through the use of different myths and folklores and these myths and folklores often contains multiple meanings and can have multiple interpretations. Author Maneshwar S. Chahal ji's groundbreaking work demystifies the myths and lore in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. The work bring before the readers the roots and origin of these myths and how they has been used in SGGS ji. The work is one of its kind as it attempts to clarify the issues related to duality or ambiguity of meaning and explanation of various myths and folklores and provides an in-dept explanation for readers.

It is truly a well-written and well-researched work. It contains more then 250 references arranged in alphabetical order. The references were collected line by line from SGGS ji. Then the roots of those references were located from scholarly books on Hindu mythology, puranas etc. A list of pronunciation of Gurmukhi script has been added at the beginning of the book for readers.

Author Chahal ji has done an excellent job in helping millions of devotees to understand SGGS ji in a more comprehensive manner. I give it full five stars for the quality explanation and overall presentation. I highly recommend it to all.

Happy Reading
