A semi historical fiction set in the backdrop of ancient indian kingdoms, author Ravi Shankar Etteth's latest work 'Return of the Brahmin' is a sequeal to his 2018 novel 'The Brahmin' where witnessed how the mysterious death of a concubine in King Ashoka's harem led to the appointment of 'The Brahmin' (protege of Chanakya) to investigate on the matter and as the tension between Kalinga and Magadha intensified, it created a mayhemic situation. This work is set in the aftermath of Ashoka's destruction of Kalinga. The Brahmin has returned to Magadha to execute a new task. Now when Ashoka is the new emperor of Magadha, he faces a new threat- an unnamed foe who is so terrible that people at the verge of death don't dare to utter the name. This mysterious entity goes by the name of Khandapati and he has just one goal- to remove Ashoka from the throne.
Will the Brahmin be able to save the emperor and the kingdom from the terror of Khandapati?
To get the answers you have to go through this brilliant work. I loved the way author has mixed the historical and fictional events so well with the art of his writing style and narration. It is action packed fiction work is full of twists and turns that will keep you at the edge of your seat till the end.
Overall, a great experience. I give it 4 stars for the writing, narration and overall presentation, and recommend it to everyone.
