Book Review: Room No. 904? By Shivani Singhal

Title- Room no. 904?

Author- Shivani Singhal

Publisher- Partridge Publishing

Genre- Suspense, Romance

Year- 2018

Length- 185 pages

Rating- 3.7/5 stars

"Room no. 904?" narrates the story of Tamanna, a sweet teenager from Srinagar who has recently admitted to a pestigious Law College in Delhi. The Story begins with her standing at the queue for Hostel room allotment. As she decides to stay at the girls hostel, she gets allotted room no. 904. But little did she know the room holds many dark secrets in it. Something very horrible happened there which no one wants to talk about, but Tamanna can sense the hidden fear in their eyes.

Why don't they want to reveal anything to her??

Is it really that horrible and disgusting that nobody even wants to remember it again?

To get the answers you have to go through the novel. And believe me its worth reading.

Review-

So the first thing that I really loved is the author's treatment with the theme. I absolutely loved the fact that she has maintained a balance between suspense and romance which is why the outcome is so amazing. The secret is not revealed till the end of the novel and the writing style is such which forces you to turn the next page.

The next amazing thing is its beautiful storyline which touches the heart. I have thoroughly enjoyed going through the old memories of hostel life and college. There are a few characters in the story and the background is mostly set at the college or at the girls hostel but everything has been woven beautifully in a balanced manner.

Improvements-

Though the title is apt, I think the cover photo could have been a bit better. The cover image of a girl with long hairs and the pink colour don't create that much needed air of suspense and fails to provide a good first impression. But it is when you start reading the story you actually realize the beauty of the work.

There is no doubt that the story is amazing, but I was expecting a little more complexity in the plot.

Overall it was a fascinating read. I recommend this book to all. There are some adult scenes which are not suitable for minors.
Thanks for reading. Have a Great Day.
