Book Review: Random Access Memories by Deepak Kaul

Title: Random Access Memories
Author: Deepak Kaul
Format: Ebook
Year: 2020
Rating: 4/5 stars

Random Access Memories is a collection of short stories by author Deepak Kaul. Rather than calling it a collection of stories I would like to call it, following the title,  it is a collection of thoughts or memories. Momories that took birth in the mind of the author randomly but together they makes a complete whole. These stories are written by the author during Write India Campaign, organized by The Times of India. As I was too a participant of this campaign,  it was truly an amazing experience going through this work.

As far as the writing is concerned,  the author has presented the stories with suitable words and expressions in the most beautiful way possible. The stories are short but really powerful one. It is not an easy task to write a story in lesser word. But with the mastery of his writing style, Author Kaul has narrated the stories in such a manner that it instantly connects the reader with the text and provides an amazing reading experience. I absolutely loved the way the stories makes the reader eager to explore the characters and leave them with a bunch of unanswered questions.

Another thing which I liked is the variety of issues the author took for his stories. From CAA protests to Politics and social Issues, the work provides some good points to think over.

The stories I loved the most are ' Beast of No Nation', 'Uttara's Anguish' and 'Parasites'. In all these stories I have discovered some questions which needs serious discussion.

Overall, it was truly an amazing experience. I give this work 4 stars and recommend everyone to go through it.
