Ganesh Saili's 'Gupp & Gossips from the Hills' is funny, interesting and utterly informative. As the title suggests this book is about 'Gupp and Gossip' but thats not everything. Behind the veil of gupp and gossips it comments on the socio-cultural aspects and its impact on these poeple. Through the mastery of his writing skills, author Saili has beautifully maintained the fine balace between witty humour and information. Before reading this work I didn't have any idea about the exciting life of the people from the Hills. The way he has narrated the events and incidents in a detailed manner shows how closely he observed them over the years. The book contains some amazing reflections on the life and culture of the Garhwali people which will keep you glued to the seat. The authors attention to details coupled with the brilliant narrative technique makes the reading utterly enjoyable. It feels like I am in a personal conversation with the author.
Author Ganesh Saili spent a quite a lot of time in the company of people from the hills. In this work he has poured down his personal experiences to give the readers a chance to know the people from the hills in a better way. The book is a short but interesting read.
I would like to thank Trisha Niyogi Ma'am for recommending this book. I have thoroughly enjoyed going through the work and encourages everyone to read it.
Happy Reading
