Book Review: Dalal's Street by Anurag Tripathi

Title- Dalal's Street
Author- Anurag Tripathi
Publisher- Niyogi Books
Genre- Fiction, Thriller
Format- Flexibound
Year- 2019
Length- 212 pages
Rating- 4.5/5 stars

Anurag Tripathi's financial thriller "Dalal's Street" is exciting and exhausting, disgusting and illuminating, it is undoubtedly one of the best thrillers written on the backdrop of Indian share market. The storyline follows a group of young indian business school graduates who are about to dive into the fast moving and competitive world of stockbroking but little they know, their penchant for perfection and success will shatter their lives into million pieces.

As the plot unravels, a series of events from murder to conspiracy spiral out of control. It's a blend of unbearable suspense, dark humor with the perfect mix of stock market strategies in a brilliantly weaved fictional thriller.

The novels strengths are its fast moving exciting plot, there's an element of surprise lurking behind every chapter. The way author has portrayed the dark and mysterious psyche of these financial giants in their continuous search for power and control is highly commendable. As far as the writing style is concerned, it is eloquent and engaging as nowhere I felt anything out of context.

However, there are a few financial jargons used in the novel which I had to search on the Internet to get the exact meaning. Though there is a page available with the list of all the terms and their meaning at the end of the novel but as their are no index page available, I came to know about it when I was on the last chapter of the novel.

The cover design by Misha Oberoi is absolutely fantastic. The perfect play of black and red with the equally suitable title creates an air of suspense and evokes a desire to go through the story.

At the end of the day, this nail-biting thriller keeps you on edge and forces you to think about these power games.

I have utterly enjoyed going through this novel and encourage everyone to read it. I give it 4.5 stars for the the writing style and narration and the overall presentation.

Happy Reading
