So Yesterday I finished the book "A Year Without Summer" by Shreyan Laha and the first thing that I would say about the book is that it is a well-written book. The author has invested much of his time in the research of the 1810 to 1820's Bengal and that is pretty much evident in the detailed descriptions throughout thr narrative.I absolutely loved the way he has tried to amalgamate history with science-fiction through and he has succeeded this endeavour. The way the author has retained the unique flavour of Bengal by incorporating colloquial bangla words is truly commendable. All the events are interconnected and follows a particular sequence to help the readers understand and enjoy the story in a better way.
Now, as far as the drawbacks of the novel are concerned, I think the writing as well as the narration would have been a bit more refined. Also, sometimes I felt the story is not moving any further.Other than that, this book is a good one time read. The cover page as well as the title of the novel could not have been better.
The book demands your undivided attention to fully enjoy the story so if you are a patient reader who is willing to go through 348 pages to enjoy a really well-written Sci-Fi, you should buy this.
I give this book 3.8 stars for the content and recommend it for all the Sci-Fi lovers.
Happy Reading
