Book Review: Yours Legally by Sonia Sahijwani

Title-Yours Legally
Author-Sonia Sahijwani
Publisher- Becomeshakespeare.com
Year-2019
Format- Paperback
Genre-Short-Story
Rating-4/5

"Yours Legally" the maiden work of lawyer cum debut author Sonia Sahijwani presents six beautifully woven stories on the backdrop of the Indian Judiciary System. The Six stories presents the six most essential elements of the judiciary system, namely "The Case", "The Court(Judge)", "The Counsel", "The Complainant", "The Confinement" and "The Criminal".

The Stories presents a few events in the life of the protagonist Sia who has recently finished her graduation in Law against her parent's wishes and now exploring the mysteries but interesting world of law under a senior advocate who has a specialization in property law matters. But what she witnessed there is completely different from her expectations.

The author has successfully portrayed a realistic picture of the Indian Judiciary system by allowing her readers a chance to peep into this mysterious world of crime and punishment. The stories are short but very well written and all the stories are connected with each other. Through her eloquent writing style the author has presented the stories in a cinematic manner. The stories written with a subtle touch of satire heightens the reading experience to a great extent. By the time you will finish the book, it will force you to ponder over the current situation of law and try to find a solution, I think this is the beauty of this book. I also like the way the author has taken an unbiased position by highlighting both the beautiful and the ugly side of the Indian Judiciary System.

The cover design by Sulabh Saini as well as the title could not have been better.Overall it was a very nice experience going through the work. I give this book 4 stars for the writing style and content.

Happy Reading
