Chaurashi, a social novel based on the backdrop of the 1984 Sikh Genocide by bestselling author Satya Vyas narrates the story of Rishi and Manu, their new found love and how their lives takes a dramatic change due to the assasination of Mrs. Gandhi and the subsequent riots that followed it. The author has beautifully presented the story through the mouth of the Steel City Bokaro, which equally suffered the pain of partition and riots upon itself.
The beauty of Satya Vyas's writing lies in the way he narrates the story in a conversational manner which provides the story a smooth flow. His writing is rich with vivid descriptions which actually enables the reader to visualize the incidents in front of their eyes.
Satya Vyas is one of those few writers who writes from the soul. His writings bear that unique touch of harsh reality in it which makes the reader instantly connect himself/herself with the characters of the story.
I particularly liked the scene where Manu lost her way to home and the manner the author has poetryed manu's psychological turmoil is absolutely brilliant. Also the scenes of killings and rapes are portrayed such realistically which actually shakes the soul.
As far as the listening experience is concerned, it was absolutely fantastic. The powerful voice of Illa Joshi elevates the narrative to a higher level. Storytell app is also really user-friendly and I recommend everyone to use it.
It was my first hindi novel and I going through the novel was a pleasing experience.I give this book 4 stars for its beautiful narration, amazing writing style and realistic portryal of the society and recommend everyone to go through the novel once.
